Chop 1.311 (Shareware, $6.95)

This program is for splitting large files for easier distribution. (Or if you are a spy, you can divide a file up and even encrypt it for security reasons...) Using either a normal window or a wizard interface, files can be split by either the number of files that you want, the maximum file size, or you can use preset common sizes for EMailing, floppies, Zips, CDs, etc... The program can Chop and UnChop files in Wizard and normal interface, and supports file time and attributes preserving, CRC and even encryption. However, if size is an absolute priority and you do not need any of the more advanced features of Chop, you can instead set Chop to create a very small BAT file to rebuild the file. Chop is written in Assembly Language for maximum efficency and minimum size.

CryptIt 1.2 (Shareware, $6.95)

Most file encryptors use methods that rely on the time taken in guessing the key number. Providing the key length is 128 bits or greater this method works well... for now. CryptIt uses a variant of Vernam encryption that can have keys the same size as the file to be encrypted. Thus, if you are encrypting a 5MB file, then you can have a 40 Million bit key! This is virtually unbreakable by any computer, especially when you consider that the file must also be checked with each combination to see if it is decrypted. Furthermore, the key file can be anything - a program, a swap file, an image of your cat or even a music file.
